Matthew Cantor Highlighted on Sutter Settlement in Law360

After more than 12 years of litigation, and multiple appeals, persistence finally paid off.  Law360 recently profiled Matthew Cantor, founding partner of Shinder Cantor Lerner LLP, and the firm’s role in the long-running antitrust case against Sutter Health—a fight that ultimately resulted in a $228.5 million settlement over hospital pricing practices.

As Matt explained to Law360, the Sutter case exemplifies how antitrust enforcement can be used to ensure that health care services are competitively priced: 

“Because we have that sort of opacity into hospital bills, it’s more important than ever for private enforcers and public enforcers to look at the activities of dominant healthcare systems and make sure that those systems are not engaging in activities that unnecessarily raise prices.”
